VHIO recognised as a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The VHIO cancer institute, recognised as a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence by Ministry of Science and Innovation. The center, directed by Josep Tabernero, has doubled its scientific output in the last five years and currently has 26 research groups ranging from basic cancer biology to clinical trials of new drugs.
