BNEW

The aim of the Barcelona New Economy Week is to position Barcelona as the European capital of the new economy

The Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) is an original new hybrid conference on B2B business that wil combine face-to-face meetings with virtual sessions and bring together five strategic sectors to discuss how to get the economy going again. The sectors involved are logistics, real estate, the digital industry, e-commerce and special economic areas.

Organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca with the aim of placing Barcelona at the epicenter of the new economy, the city will be hosting this event up until October 9. More than 120 companies and 358 speakers will participate in a number of debates, interviews, talks, speeches and panels. Among the topics to be discussed are post-pandemic commercial and entrepreneurial activity, digitalization, 5G, and the sustainable development objectives.

Well-known speakers will help participants to gain a better understanding of the current global economic situation and find out what can be done face the challenges of the coming months.

A hybrid event

The event opens today with presentations, debates and panels at Casa Seat, the Estació de França and the Movistar Center, the three Barcelona venues hosting the event. Numerous experts, such as Elsa Punset, Alicia Asín, Marc Vidal, Pilar Jericó and Jorge Alonso, will be taking part.

"More than 8,000 professionals from all over the world are registered to attend the event virtually"

Around a thousand visitors are expected to attend the BNEW in person, while the majority of its audience will follow it online. In total, more than 8,000 professionals from 91 countries around the world are registered for the virtual event.

For the virtual event, the Consorci de la Zona Franca has worked closely with SIRT, a telecommunications company, to create and implement a platform design exclusively for BNEW. The system uses algorithms based on artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and other outstanding innovative techniques. All this should enable participants to interact with each other and overcome some of the limitations that a virtual event might normally entail.
